CellCept

F. Hoffmann-La Roche (Roche)'s drug CellCept (mycophenolate mofetil/MMF), is a widely used transplantation medication that has proven effective in preventing organ rejection. In the United States, MMF is the leading branded transplant medicine for the prevention of rejection.

With over a decade of clinical evidence, MMF has demonstrated that it provides potent immunosuppression, preventing organ rejection without the long-term toxic effects associated with other therapies.

MMF was first approved in 1995 for renal transplant, and the indications now also include heart and liver transplants.

MMF prevents immune reactions through a unique mode of action, which is highly relevant for many autoimmune disease patients. In 2003, Aspreva and Roche signed a partnership agreement which gives Aspreva exclusive worldwide* rights to develop and commercialize MMF in all autoimmune disease applications. For more information on the partnership, please see our F. Hoffmann-La Roche Partnership page.

Through this partnership with Roche, Aspreva currently has two phase III MMF clinical trials underway for the treatment of two autoimmune diseases: lupus nephritis (LN) and pemphigus vulgaris (PV). For information about autoimmune disease, please visit Aspreva Clinical Research.
